A park renewal is planned for Slocan Park, introducing new and upgraded amenities:
•Playground and multi-sport court
•New skatepark!!!

Parks board is planning on replacing the aging wading pool with a custom concrete skatepark, enhancing the park’s youth-focused amenities : P

Parks board is also hosting 2 information sessions.
Please join us to learn more about the renewal and please share .

The VSBC Board of Directors would like to invite you to our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday March 5th at 7pm at Antisocial Skateboard Shop at 2337 Main st.

Do you want to know more about the VSBC? Are you interested in getting involved? If so, this meeting is for you!

At our AGM, we will present our 2024 summary and share our goals and strategic plans for 2025. We will also be holding an election to fill 1 or 3 (depending on interest) board member positions.

We encourage you to apply! To nominate yourself, or to learn more about being a board member, refer to the VSBC Board Position Self-Nomination Form 2025 on our website and linktree (located in our instagram bio). Feel free to share with anyone that you think would be a great candidate!

The VSBC is looking for dedicated and passionate skateboarding enthusiasts that want to help elevate and grow with the organization. There are no mandatory skills required to be a board member, but any experience with accounting, grant writing, fundraising, event planning, IT, web or graphic design, leadership, legal or experience with non-profit organizations would be a huge asset to the VSBC!

The VSBC is Vancouver’s voice for skateboarding. The VSBC is a non-profit that was formed in the mid-90s to advocate for better skate parks and acceptance of skateboarding within the city.
The VSBC works to influence policies, initiatives and decisions concerning skateboarding in Vancouver. Through local events and programs, we aim to engage with and support the Vancouver skateboard community.

A position on the board of directors with the Vancouver Skateboard Coalition is a minimum 2 year commitment. The position comes with a lot of responsibility, such as the ability to listen, analyze, take initiative, think clearly and creatively, work well with people individually and in a group. Board members are required to attend the majority of VSBC monthly meetings, supplementary board meetings and additional meetings with various stakeholders.

Nominations will close Saturday March 1st, 2025.

In partnership with CMHC Granville Island, the Vancouver Skateboard Coalition is excited to announce the 6th annual All Aboard Skateboard celebration NEXT WEEKEND on November 23 & 24 2024.

In previous years, the event was hosted in various parkades on Granville Island.
For this year, the VSBC will utilize a large frame event tent in the LOT 55 parking lot, to create a TEMPORARY COVERED SKATEPARK.
This weekend will include skateboarding, raffle prizes, and so much more. Free for all! To participate… just follow the link in our bio to register (complete waiver), view the schedule on info on the location.

The weekend will also include the return of the “Green Ramp” in the Ocean Art Works Pavilion. The Green Ramp will remain open to the public until the end of January 2025.

November is going to busy and we have lots of updates for you -

★ Vancouver parks board will provide an update on the burrard slopes and Collingwood projects. This will also be an opportunity for anyone interested to provide the parks board with valuable feedback around China creek!

★ We will discuss and prep for this year’s All Aboard celebration and green ramp sessions. If you are interested in volunteering, please attend the meeting !

★ We are rolling out a new member registration and liability waiver process, to be discussed :)

The Rio Theatre‘s deep dive into 80’s-era cinematic gold continues with the the sk8r classic THRASHIN’.

Corey (Josh Brolin) and his band of skater buddies sometimes make mischief, but they’re more interested in girls and having fun on their boards than in getting into any real trouble. Notorious enemy crew the Daggers, led by Tommy Hook, get their kicks terrorizing the locals at Venice Beach. When Corey starts dating Tommy’s kid sister, the Daggers are furious. The boys then take their beef to the “L.A. Massacre,” a deadly skate race down a canyon road. With Robert Rusler, Tony Hawke, Pamela Gidley.

Presented in partnership with our friends at Landyachtz and Jefferson’s Barbershop – so turn up in your best 80’s skate gear and maybe with trivial answers on your brain for a chance to win some killer prizes, swag, and who knows what else…

Partial proceeds from this event will be donated to the Vancouver Skateboard Coalition.
